Trauma & Relationship Therapy

In our work together, we’ll get curious about the beliefs and patterns that developed in important relationships throughout childhood and even into adulthood. Many of the ways you cope today began as strategies to survive difficult experiences. Together, we’ll explore how those strategies developed and whether they are still helping you live the life you want.

You may find yourself numbing with substances or other distractions, holding back in relationships out of fear of rejection, or repeating patterns that leave you feeling disconnected or misunderstood. Rather than judging these responses, we’ll work to understand them. Maybe you have been told you are “too much,” “drama queen,” and other hurtful things.

By gently exploring past experiences, we can identify where trauma may still be shaping your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Using approaches such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, self-compassion, and person-centered therapy, we’ll help your mind and nervous system process what they’ve been holding so you can feel more at ease within yourself and more connected in your relationships.

At some point in life, most people learn to wear emotional armor—perfectionism, people-pleasing, overthinking, shutting down, staying guarded. These strategies often begin as intelligent ways to survive difficult experiences.

But over time they can leave you feeling stuck, exhausted, or disconnected from the person you truly are.

Therapy here helps you gently understand the parts of you that learned those roles. Using approaches like EMDR and Internal Family Systems, we process the experiences those parts are protecting so your nervous system can finally settle.

You don’t have to fix yourself.

You get to become more fully yourself—quirks, complexity, and all.

What would it feel like to trust yourself? Let’s talk about that.
